Skanska completed a $414 million renovation of New York Penn Station's Long Island Rail Road Concourse in New York City. The project was designed to improve the rider experience for 600,000 daily commuters using LIRR's 3rd Street corridor. The 27-month design-build project widened the train hall; raised ceiling height; upgraded lighting,  wayfinding, mechanical and electrical systems; and completed architectural finishes. The renovation also improved accessibility with a new elevator, rebuilt stairs and handrails, and new fire protection enclosures. AECOM served as the designer of record, while architecture firm SOM helped with the height and width expansion of the concourse.

Shift5 introduced a predictive maintenance module leveraging the Shift5 platform's real-time access and analysis of onboard data to deliver maintenance predictions and scheduling. The module will help customers stay ahead of critical failures and support safety and performance of their assets. The module is available for rail, defense and aviation applications and complements existing Shift5 toolsets.

Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OLI) unveiled a new look for its ProDriver Challenge eLearning program, which helps drivers of tractor-trailer trucks and other large-haul vehicles make safer choices when navigating railroad crossings on their routes. The platform offers an interactive, immersive online learning experience for commercial truck drivers, who are "exposed to several driving scenarios that demand quick thinking and critical decision-making," said OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh in a press release.
