Stadler and the San Bernardino County Transit Authority this week will unveil Stadler’s first hydrogen passenger train for the first time in the United States at APTA Expo in Orlando, Florida. The new vehicle is set to start operations in the Riverside/San Bernardino area in 2024. Also at the event, which runs through Oct. 11, Stadler will present its new electric multiple unit (EMU) for Caltrain, which has 23 seven-car units on order and has recently added a bilevel battery powered EMU to the fleet in production. The vehicles will operate on a route between San Francisco and San Jose and replace Caltrain’s diesel-powered fleet in fall 2024.
Tracsis North America, formerly known as RailComm, has announced the following recent hires: Kevin Sheward, vice president of sales; Matt Keepman, key account executive; Michelle Meisenhalder, sales director; Zach Guilfoyle, product manager; Bryan Cunningham, business development director, transit; and Chris Galliher, regional sales director. "Their collective experience is set to drive Tracsis' growth and contribute to the continued success of its rail technology solutions," company officials said in a press release.
Rumo, the largest railway operator in Brazil, has taken delivery of two hybrid EMD® GT38H locomotives developed by Progress Rail. The locomotives operate on a diesel-electric system and battery packs. Testing will occur over six months on track between Guarapuava and the Desvio Ribas railway station in the Ponta Grossa region. The first consist pulled by the hybrid locomotives is planned to depart from Cascavel this month.
Keolis North America announced Francis Julien has joined the company as president of commercial development. He will focus on identifying growth projects and deepening relationships with partners and other stakeholders. Before joining Keolis, Julien served as deputy CEO for the RTC of Southern Nevada, where he oversaw contract operations. Prior to that assignment, Julien worked as regional VP of operations for Keolis.
