Alstom announced the first results of North America’s first demonstration of hydrogen-powered trains. The Coradia iLint carried more than 10,000 passengers over 130 trips spanning 10,660 kilometers in Quebec from mid-June to the end of September. The demonstration saved the railway partner about 8,400 liters of diesel and averted 22 tons of CO2 emissions compared to the diesel trains that normally service this route, according to an Alstom press release. Alstom is partnering with the Hydrogen Research Institute at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivieres to analyze the results of the demonstration project and will issue a final report for public authorities in early 2024.

Masabi, a transit-ticketing technology company, announced a new collaboration with Worldpay from FIS®. The collaboration will deliver a pre-integrated and precertified EMV payments solution for transit agencies of all sizes. The solution enables passengers to use their contactless-payment card or mobile device to tap a validator as they board, without the need to purchase a ticket or select their fare before traveling.

Powerbrace, a designer and manufacturer of door-securement products for the transportation industry, has been recognized with a 2023 Web Marketing Association Manufacturing Standard of Excellence WebAward.  The WMA presented this award to Powerbrace for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development for its website.
