L.K. Comstock National Transit LLC (LKCNT), along with RailWorks Track Services LLC (RTS) as its sub-contractor, has been chosen by St. Clair County Transit District to furnish and install the track and systems work for the 5.2-mile extension of the MetroLink light-rail system from the existing Shiloh-Scott station to the new MidAmerica St. Louis Airport station in St. Clair County, Illinois. LKCNT will furnish and install traction power, signals and communications systems. RTS will furnish and install concrete ties, continuous welded rail and ballast. LKCNT and RTS will also be responsible for systems acceptance testing, commissioning and for assisting the Agency during systems integration testing of the new LRT extension.
RailWorks has entered a partnership with One Big Circle to provide its Automated Intelligent Video Review (AIVR) product line in North America. In response to challenges in rail safety, maintenance and inspection in the United Kingdom, One Big Circle created AIVR. The combined hardware and software of the AIVR system provides digital-inspection capability that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to enable users from multiple rail disciplines to monitor rail environments remotely and safely, according to a RailWorks press release.
RR Mergers & Acquisition announced the sale of TCR Rail Systems to Rail Investments LLC, according to an RR Mergers press release. Based in Simpsonville, Kentucky, TCR provides signal-communications solutions to Class Is, short lines and transit customers. Chris Ramey will remain president and Tom Ramey will continue as chief operating officer at TCR. Along with the Rail Investments leadership team, they will help drive the company’s next phase of growth. Rail Investments consists of eight railroad principals including Rick Turner, who will serve as TCR CEO, along with Bill Kiefer, Mike Powers and Rich Regan, who will serve on TCR’s board. RR Mergers facilitated the transaction.
Snyder Equipment, a division of New York Air Brake LLC (NYAB), today held a grand-opening celebration of its expanded, consolidated manufacturing center in Springfield, Missouri. The facility began full production in September. Its operations focus on the development, testing, manufacturing and repair and remanufacturing of fueling systems, service track and wayside equipment for servicing of locomotives.
HDR Inc. has hired Paulo Faria as a design director for transportation architecture. Faria has 25 years of experience crafting user-centered storylines and design solutions, according to an HDR press release. Faria has contributed to significant transportation and infrastructure programs, including the Ontario Line Subway, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority enhanced stations initiative and large transportation hubs such as the Fulton Street Transit Center, New York Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal and Chicago Union Station.
