Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

FreightCar America Inc. reported second-quarter 2024 revenue of $147.4 million on 1,159 rail-car deliveries, an increase of 66% compared to revenue of $88.6 million on 760 rail-car deliveries in Q2 2023. Net Income was $8.2 million, or 11 cents per diluted share, and adjusted net income of $6.3 million, or 5 cents per diluted share, according to a company news release.

Gannett Fleming, an engineering and infrastructure solutions provider, and TranSystems, a provider of transportation-focused engineering and infrastructure services, have merged, creating an organization that will have $1.3 billion in revenue and a workforce of more than 5,000 employees, according to a Gannett Fleming news release. Tim Rock, chief executive officer of TranSystems, has become president and chief operating officer of the organization while the board seeks a new CEO.

Rail Vision Ltd. has been granted patent approval from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its artificial intelligence-based railway obstacle detection system. The system uses electro-optical imaging technologies combined with artificial intelligence, according to a Rail Vision news release.

League of Railway Women (LRW) has opened nominations for its Member of the Year award. The award recognizes the dedication and outstanding contributions of an LRW Member, according to an LRW news release. To submit a nominee,  use this link. Nominations are due Sept. 30. The award will be presented during the virtual membership meeting in December.
