AnsaldoBreda to reorganize North American operations, relocate headquarters

Today, passenger-car builder AnsaldoBreda Inc. announced it will reorganize its North American operation by consolidating all responsibilities into two core areas — strategy/growth and operations management.

Executive Vice President Michael Pracht will assume broader responsibility for all regional marketing, sales and business development activities, including strategy, proposals, customer service, industry/government relations and corporate governance.

Vice President and General Manager-Operations Michael Loundes will continue to be responsible for all project functions, including production, facilities management, engineering, purchasing, operations, budget, overhaul, service, maintenance and spare parts.

To take effect Jan. 15, the changes will coincide with the relocation of AnsaldoBreda’s headquarters from New York City to Pittsburg, Calif.

“This move comes as the next logical step after moving our final assembly activities to Pittsburg after the Ansaldo-Breda merger back in 2001,” said AnsaldoBreda President Giancarlo Fantappié in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, the company delivered the first light-rail vehicle manufactured at the Pittsburg facility to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA). Received by the authority yesterday, the car is the first of 50 ordered by LA MTA.
