A rail industry supplier has joined the ranks of U.S. companies providing aid to southeast Asian countries wracked by the Dec. 26 tsunamis. ARINC Inc. and its employees recently donated more than $90,000 to the American Red Cross and CARE Inc., which are assisting with relief efforts. Nearly half of the donations came from ARINC workers.

"This tragedy affected ARINC very closely," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Belcher in a prepared statement, adding that ARINC customer Aerothai experienced significant damage at its Phuket, Thailand, operations. "We have employees and families throughout the region, as well as many Asian customers whose businesses and families have suffered."

ARINC provides transportation communications and systems engineering services, and develops and operates communications and information processing systems for the surface transportation industry, including railroads.

Meanwhile, Pacer International Inc. has donated about $38,000 to the American Red Cross' International Response Fund. Employees contributed about half
of the donation.
