Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
Arch Insurance Group recently announced it's entering the railroad market and will provide up to $25 million for a variety of rail-related coverages, including underwriting, claims handling and emergency response services.
The company's railroad department will be headed by Senior Vice President Robert Keller and Vice President David Adamczyk, and will maintain underwriting facilities in New York City and Owings Mills, Md.
"Arch is filling a shortage in capacity in a niche industry market," said Elaine Trischetta, Arch Insurance executive vice president, casualty, in a prepared statement.
The company plans to provide coverage for rail operators, lessors, contractors, suppliers and service providers. Services will include underwriting liability for short lines; providing excess placements for commuter railroads and layered programs for freight roads; and offering commercial general liability coverage for railroad suppliers and general railroad protective liability.
