Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
San Diego’s North County Transit District recently contracted Digital Concepts Inc. to supply a Digital Traffic Control™ 6.2 system for the SPRINTER line.
The system will include DigiCon’s Proactive Traffic Management software, which incorporates train schedules and routing information, and is designed to run in “unattended mode.” The system also will feature DigiCon’s new near-side signal function to transmit train information to field equipment so crossing gates and signals are not activated prematurely when a train stops at a platform near a crossing.
Scheduled to open in December 2007, the 22-mile, 15-station SPRINTER line will serve Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos and Escondido.
