Federal Railroad Administration Administrator David Fink and other FRA officials earlier this week toured Duos Technologies Inc.'s Jacksonville, Florida, headquarters to learn about the role of modern inspection technology in the railroad industry.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between rail industry suppliers and federal regulators in ongoing effort to modernize rail inspection technology, said Duos officials in a press release.
During the tour, Duos officials showcased how the company's machine vision and AI technology solutions, such as its Railcar Inspection Portal, are used to analyze freight and passenger trains for defects, they said.
"Hosting Administrator Fink provided an opportunity for us to demonstrate how our Railcar Inspection Portal can identify potential mechanical issues, significantly enhancing rail safety," said Adrian Goldfarb, president of Duos Technologies' rail subsidiary. "Our technology can inspect every railcar passing through the system at speeds up to 125 mph, and within 60 seconds, alert the operator to potential safety issues, including a potential derailment."
