Toronto’s GO Transit recently awarded a $22 million contract to Bombardier Transportation to design, manufacture and deliver 10 bi-level commuter-rail vehicles.

GO Transit plans to add the cars to its existing fleet of 372 Bombardier-built rail cars.

Bombardier will begin building the cars in February 2005 at its Thunder Bay, Ontario, facility, then start delivering units in 2006.

The company’s services division also maintains GO Transit’s car and locomotive fleet.
