Long Island Rail road awards signal-system contract
advertisement
MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) recently awarded a contract to Union Switch and Signal Inc. (US&S) to provide a microprocessor-based signal system for the New Jamaica Interlocking.
US&S will design a MicroLok® II system — a microprocessor that currently controls the railroad’s Jay, Hall and Dunton interlockings — and a PC-based centralized supervisory control system.
US&S also will provide engineering and other services to replace LIRR’s existing interlocking machines.
The upgraded equipment is designed to expand event recording and diagnostic capabilities of the combined interlocking system. The project is scheduled for completion in fourth-quarter 2005.
