MARTA awards fare-collection system contract to Cubic

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) recently awarded a $104 million contract to Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. to design and install a system-wide fare-collection system.

MARTA’s current fare system is obsolete and has caused millions of dollars in lost revenue from broken turnstiles, fare boxes, token machines and fare evaders, according to a prepared statement.
