The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) awarded a $258.4 million contract to Judlau Contracting Inc. for the station finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ancillary buildings and entrances work for the future Second Avenue Subway's 72nd Street Station in New York City.

The contract was the ninth of 10 contracts to be awarded for the project's first phase, MTA officials said in a press release. The final first-phase contract will cover the 86th Street Station systems and finishes work, which is scheduled for a bid opening in mid-March.

Entrances for the 72nd Street Station will be on the southeast corner of 69th Street and northeast conner of 72nd Street and Second Avenue.

The $4.45 billion project to extend the Q Line along Second Avenue is the largest expansion of the subway system in generations, MTA officials said.
