• The Timken Co. announced plans to spend $42 million to build a two-story office complex connected to its existing facility near the Akron-Canton airport in Stark County, Ohio. The new 160,000-square-foot building will house personnel both from the Bearings and Power Transmission headquarters, who currently are located in leased facilities in downtown Canton, and the company's global technology center.

• Nomad Digital Ltd. has obtained a contract from Czech rail company LEO Express to provide passenger WiFi technology on the new Stadler Flirt fleet. The first of five trains has been accepted by the Czech operator this month and a full fleet rollout is anticipated in December, according to a company press release. This is the first of LEO Express’s passenger WiFi projects, which will be followed by other train units running on other routes during the next few years, Nomad Digital officials said.

• Professional Transportation Inc. (PTI) has named Ronald Meredith director of operations for the central region and David Richey, director of operations. Meredith most recently was employed for 12 years at Celadon Trucking Services, where he held various positions, including operations manager, customer service manager, dedicated service manager and special projects manager. Prior to joining PTI, Richey was founder and president of Iridium L.L.C., which provided asset location, IT solutions and project management services to the distressed receivables industry.

• Boatright Cos. announced Ashley Baker has joined the firm as chief legal counsel. She will oversee all government relations and public affairs, and assist with taxation and compliance issues. Prior to joining Boatright, Baker spent several years as a senior level certified public accountant at Carr Riggs and Ingram L.L.C.

• e-Builder’s e-Builder Enterprise software has been selected by the North County Transit District (NCTD) as the agency’s capital program management and project information management platform, e-Builder officials said in a prepared statement. e-Builder Enterprise will help standardize critical business processes. The software also will be used to track budgets and multiple funding sources or capital programs. NCTD is installing positive train control (PTC) in its service area within the Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo corridor, and e-Builder will be a key project management tool in keeping NCTD on track to finish PTC implementation prior to a December 2015 federally mandated deadline, company officials said.
