• Ansaldo STS Australia has been awarded a $154 million contract to deliver the first two phases of a staged signaling and communications system for the Roy Hill Iron Ore Project Mine’s heavy rail line in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The signaling solution involves centralized routing and automatic train protection with satellite positioning. The system will enable the project to integrate and upgrade to automated heavy haul operations if required in the future, according to an Ansaldo press release.

• Osmose Holdings Inc. has closed an agreement to be acquired by certain investment funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management L.P. Osmose President and Chief Executive Officer James Spengler will continue to serve in the same capacity along with Osmose’s existing management team, company officials said in a prepared statement. “Oaktree can provide substantial additional resources and is committed to investing in Osmose to help us expand our product and service offerings and to better meet and exceed our customers’ expectations,” said Spengler. Osmose provides wood preservation products and specialty wood-related services to railroads and utilities.

• Norgren Inc. plans to insource distribution and move the operation to Louisville, Ky., where more than 70 percent of orders will be in transit three or fewer days, Norgren officials said in a prepared statement. “Insourcing with trained Norgren employees means we can respond more quickly and accurately to changing customer requirements,” said Chris Adams, Norgren’s logistics manager. The company will begin shipping from the new location on May 14. Norgren provides pneumatic motion and fluid control systems.
