NBC Universal recently signed a $14.7 million contract with Inova Computers Inc. to install and maintain a passenger “infotainment” system for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH).

Inova will equip 340 new passenger cars being built by Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. and 12 PATH stations with multimedia servers and video screens. The company also will provide NBC a studio system to manage and deliver multi-media content to the screens.

The system will provide news, sports, weather, travel times to various stations and connecting train schedules, short entertainment clips and advertising.
