New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) recently awarded a five-year, $65 million information technology services contract to IBM Global Services.
IBM will manage MTA’s computer processing operations from a remote data center outside of Manhattan for the authority’s divisions, including New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Long Island Bus, and Bridges and Tunnels.
The company’s data center will manage MTA’s fare collection system, and a database that tracks equipment and parts, and oversees crew schedules, purchasing and contracts.
