RAILINC boots up online rail-car disposition service

RAILINC recently launched RAMP-ED, a Web-based rail-car disposition service designed for North American leasing companies, lessees and rail-car owners.

Instead of phoning or faxing car dispositions, RAMP-ED offers lessors, lessees and fleet owners an electronic uniform process for submitting movement and billing instructions when moving railroad or private cars to shops, or creating a new or next lease, or new points of assignment.

"Leasing companies and shippers will benefit from accurate empty freight-car routing and billing, while railroads will eliminate freight-car re-handling expenses," said RAILINC Director of Business Systems Rick Hobb in a prepared statement, adding that the service can eliminate re-work and re-billing problems.
