American Industrial Transport Inc. (AITX) has named Patrick Magee vice president of transportation. Magee will lead the AITX transportation group to drive collaboration, process innovation, change management and internal strategy planning. Previously, he worked for SMBC Rail Services and TTX Co., AITX officials said in a press release. “We need leaders who not only understand the industry’s trajectory but can guide our organization to meet those challenges head-on. Patrick exemplifies the leadership and holistic thinking we need to meet these challenges head-on and inspire others to contribute to our shared goals,” said Mike McCarthy, AITX president.
Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. has been awarded a $211 million contract by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority for the design, installation and operation of its Key 2.0 fare payment system, which is an update to the transit agency's existing and outdated fare payment system. The fare system will be easier to use and more reliable, with the option to use a virtual key card, SEPTA officials said in a press release. Design and implementation of SEPTA Key 2.0 is expected to begin soon, with an estimated completion date in 2029.
Comply365 LLC, a global safety and training management solutions provider, has acquired Austria-based Aviation Safety & Quality Solutions, a safety and compliance management system provider. The acquisition will enhance Comply365’s safety management solution offerings, positioning the combined business as a leader in the safety management industry, company officials said. Completion of the transaction is expected in the second quarter of 2025. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed in the press release.
Stadler has been selected to install European standard 25kV/50Hz AC traction systems on central European transport company Leo Express’ FLIRT trains, which were made by Stadler. The added traction components will supplement the train’s existing 3kV traction, enabling the trains to operate on both types of electrical infrastructure on Czech Republic and Slovakia networks, as well as on networks in Poland. The 25kV system will also be integrated into the train control management system, enabling switching between the two traction systems. Stadler will undertake the work at its Switzerland plant. No contract value was mentioned in the press release.
KB Signaling Inc. has launched its wayside system data management module (WSDMM) certified developer program, adding to its wayside intelligence product line. Using this program, third parties can develop applications to address customer problems, and KB Signaling certifies they are compatible with the rest of the WSDMM system. The company anticipates launching two to three third party apps per year in addition to the apps the company itself plans to develop annually, according to a company press release.
