Alstom and S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH have signed a contract for the delivery of an additional 64 Class 490 S-Bahn trains. The order is an option from a framework contract signed in 2013 and is valued at around 500 million euros, according to an Alstom press release. Meanwhile, Alstom’s first two Innovia 300 monorail trains for the Cairo Monorail project have arrived in Cairo after being completed at Alstom’s Derby UK factory, with propulsion systems application led by Alstom’s site in Trapaga, Spain. The dispatch of the first eight fully automated, driverless cars out of 70 trains (a total of 280 cars) is a milestone in the Cairo Monorail project.

Keolis today began operating and maintaining Dubai’s driverless metro network and operating the emirate’s tram network under a 15-year contract awarded by the Roads & Transport Authority on Jan. 31. Keolis-MHI is a joint venture led by Keolis that includes Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (MHI) and Mitsubishi Corp., which have both been involved in the construction and development of Dubai’s metro network since 2005. For this contract, Keolis-MHI has recruited 1,850 employees, mainly from the previous operator, following a smooth seven-month transition period.

STV Group Inc. announced yesterday it has agreed to acquire CP&Y Inc., an employee-owned engineering, architectural and field services consulting firm with a staff of more than 375 professionals in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida and Virginia. "Joining forces with CP&Y will cement our presence in the Texas infrastructure market and serve as a catalyst to expand our water and wastewater practices nationwide," said STV President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Kelly in a press release.
