The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works has selected Alstom to provide its state-of-the-art Cityflo 650 communications-based train control solution for the Miami-Dade Metromover system. Under the $140 million contract, Alstom will also replace or refurbish the power distribution system, the supervisory-control and data-acquisition system, guideway switches and other elements, and introduce new features that will increase reliability and availability, according to an Alstom press release.Opened in 1986, the Miami-Dade Metromover system was the first urban application of the Westinghouse Automated People Mover technology, which is now part of the Alstom product portfolio.

Savage, a global provider of industry infrastructure and supply-chain services, held a June 16 grand opening event for its new Savage Railport in Tooele, Utah, a multi-commodity transload facility to serve nearby Salt Lake City and surrounding markets. The railport can safely handle nonhazardous and hazardous products, and transfer materials from trucks to rail cars for delivery across the United States and internationally. The new facility includes 45 rail-car spots, warehousing, ground storage, conveyor systems and rail-car steaming capabilities, and provides access to Union Pacific Railroad lines.

TRAC Intermodal has created a dedicated private chassis pool for global shipper ZIM to handle cargo volumes at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. A TRAC detailed case study describes how its expedited chassis solution helped ZIM meet the express shipping needs of e-commerce customers from South China to the United States. TRAC’s dedicated pool solution ensures streamlined and efficient chassis operations to support the need for expedited delivery services. The report is available here.

Thales' interoperable ticketing technology is now fully Visa Ready for Transit certified. After software certification earlier in 2020, the hardware components of the TRANSCITY™ solution — the BV600 validator and PG600 access gate — have  been certified. The multimodal mobility platform can be deployed on a single bus, tram or metro line or across an entire city, regional or national transport network, according to a Thales press release.
