The Department of Transport in Victoria, Australia, has signed a contract with Alstom to provide 100 Flexity low-floor Next Generation light-rail trains. Valued at approximately 700 million euros, the contract includes rolling stock and 15 years of maintenance. Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2025. Introduction of the low-floor NGT fleet will enable retirement of all existing high-floor trains from the Melbourne network by 2032, ensuring compliance with disability standards. The new fleet will further support the increase in network capacity requirements to meet the projected population growth, Alstom officials said in a press release.
TekTracking LLC has signed a contract with Transdev Rail Inc., track and signal maintenance contractor for the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, to implement TIMPS & SITE platforms for management of infrastructure inspection and testing. TekTracking will support and equip SFRTA/Transdev track and signal personnel with mobile applications to log data related to track and signal inspection and required testing events.
Atir-Rail, an independent company that provides rental and management of rail cars, is deploying Nexxiot's TradeTech to increase the visibility of the fleet and improve operations efficiency. The company will leverage Nexxiot's zero-maintenance sensor hardware, software, advanced algorithms and analytics. The primary drivers include better fleet utilization, maintenance scheduling, repairs, operational improvements and process automation. The Nexxiot Globehopper 3.0 hardware roll-out will begin in the next month, and Atir-Rail clients will be introduced to the new data-driven services over the coming year.
STV Inc. has named George Gorrill vice president and Midwest business unit leader. Based in the Chicago office, Gorrill will lead all STV efforts in the Midwest, including recruiting and managing talent throughout the region, as well as developing plans to better serve STV clients and the market.
