Rail supplier news from Bombardier, Alstom, Hatch Mott MacDonald, MartinEnviro, HNTB and Parsons Brinckerhoff (July 24)

Bombardier Inc. yesterday announced the implementation of a new organizational structure that comprises four business segments: Transportation, Business Aircraft, Commercial Aircraft, and Aerostructures and Engineering Services. Effectively immediately, all four segments will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Pierre Beaudoin. The heads of the business segments remain Lutz Bertling at Transportation, Eric Martel at Business Aircraft and Mike Arcamone at Commercial Aircraft. The head of Aerostructures and Engineering Services will be appointed in the next few weeks.

Alstom Transport JV SATCO has delivered the first two driverless metros of 42 new metros ordered by Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) in February 2012. The vehicles are the first metros to be manufactured in Asia for LTA in Singapore. The metros are estimated to be in operation by mid-2015.

Metrolinx has selected Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM) to provide technical consultant services for the resignaling of the Union Station Rail Corridor and the provision of a new control system for the entire GO Transit rail network.

Martin Environmental Solutions Inc. (MartinEnviro) is expanding its industry services to include Class Is, short lines and regionals that are installing wayside poles on their rights of ways to transmit and receive communication signals as part of positive train control implementation. MartinEnviro is a diversified environmental consulting firm that specializes in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, according to a company press release.

HNTB Corp. has expanded its transit-rail practice over the past 12 months by adding 10 industry experts. They are: Selena Asire, senior project manager of transit rail, Dallas; William Fellini and Tarek Hatab, project directors, New York City; Kevin Campbell, project director of rail, Chicago; Steven Falkenstein, senior director of rail, Philadelphia; Kevin Collins, project director, Bellevue, Wash.; Graham Christie, Southern California rail and transit leader, Los Angeles; Dominic Spaethling, Northern California rail-transit market sector leader, San Francisco; Patrick Watz, Great Lakes Division rail-transit practice leader, Minneapolis; and Matthew Pollack, senior rail project/program manager and practice builder, Atlanta.

Charles Reed has been named a supervising communications and security engineer in the New York City office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. Reed is responsible for the conceptual development and design of large-scale communications and security projects at airports and transit facilities. He has more than 15 years of security and communications systems design and engineering experience with various transportation facility and infrastructure projects.
