Bombardier Transportation has obtained a $771 million contract from the Stockholm Public Transport Authority to deliver the new generation C30 metro fleet for Stockholm. The contract calls for Bombardier to provide 96 MOVIA metro vehicles and includes an option for up to 80 additional vehicles.

RailComm has provided a yard control system for a yard in Geismar, La. The yard is now able to wirelessly control 26 switches using RailComm's Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) system, RailComm's RADiANT data radios, universal switch machine controllers and two hardened outdoor rated PCs.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corp., has obtained an order worth about $125 million from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore to design, manufacture, install and commission a capacity expansion of the existing Sengkang and Punggol lines that serve new residential areas in northeast Singapore.

American Public Transportation Association members and IDS and Textspeak have announced plans to offer an advanced voice synthesis paging-announcement solution to the transit industry. Based on advanced text-to-speech technology, the system is designed to create audio directly from existing passenger information display data streams to support Americans with Disabilities Act compliance guidelines and general passenger audio announcements.
