Bombardier Transportation, as part of a consortium with John Laing, ITOCHU Corp. and Uberior, entered into a $4.1 billion contract with the state of Queensland, Australia, for the New Generation Rollingstock project. Bombardier will supply 75 electrical multiple units, build a new depot and provide maintenance for 30 years. Bombardier’s share of the contract is valued at $2.7 billion.

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) has completed its work for the $425 million track and station renewal project for Chicago Transit Authority’s Red Line. TYLI provided complete design oversight for the project, which included reconstruction of 10.2 miles of track and the rehabilitation of eight stations. TYLI also was the designer of record for the corridor from 33rd Street and the 15th Street crossover.

GE announced fourth-quarter 2013 operating earnings rose 16 percent to $5.4 billion compared with 4Q 2012’s earnings. Revenue rose 3 percent to $40.4 billion for the period. Full-year operating earnings were $16.9 billion, up 5 percent compared with 2012’s operating earnings. GE Transportation revenue rose 7 percent during fourth-quarter 2013 and 5 percent for the full year, compared with 2012 results, according to a company press release.

SKF has obtained an order for Compact Tapered Bearing Units for the Tikhvin Freight Car Assembly Plant (TVSZ), an affiliated company of United Wagon Co. L.L.C. In 2014, the SKF Tver manufacturing facility in Russia will produce more than 40,000 SKF axle box CTBUs for TVSZ freight cars with a 25-ton axle load. Under the cooperation agreement, SKF will provide technical support to TVSZ.
