Bombardier Transportation obtained a $21 million contract to deliver its INTERFLO 250 European Rail Traffic Management System Level 1 solution to improve passenger services and safety on a regional and commuter-rail corridor in Santiago, Chile.

Wabtec Corp. announced Alvaro Garcia-Tunon will retire as executive vice president and chief financial officer on Jan. 1, 2014. He will be succeeded by Patrick Dugan, who joined the company in 2003 and has served as senior vice president of finance and corporate controller since January 2012. Garcia-Tunon will remain with Wabtec as a strategic adviser. He joined the company in 1995, and has served in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility.

TUV Rheinland Industrial Solutions (TRIS) has expanded the range of tensile and compression load test capabilities with its hydraulic machine calibrated from 10,000 pounds to 1 million pounds of pressure. Located in Aliquippa, Pa., TRIS is one of the few laboratories in North America to offer such powerful testing capabilities, according to a company press release.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently presented the Smartway® Excellence Award to Hub Group Inc. for being an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency, according to a company press release. Hub Group was one of 55 companies to receive the honor, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay's 3,000-plus partners. The recipients were recognized at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' annual conference in Denver last week.

Lee Castellion has been named senior communications engineer in the Denver office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, where he will manage rail communications projects, develop specifications, review designs and integrate systems. Castellion has 25 years of systems engineering experience. Prior to joining the firm, he was a senior systems solution engineer with a leading communications company.

David Clugg joined Salco Products Inc. as director of business development. His experience includes 11 years at GATX and contract shop experience at Midland Manufacturing, where he was involved in marketing and international sales.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) awarded the 2013 Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement to Lara Karamatsu, a civil engineer in the Honolulu office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, where she works on the Honolulu Rail Transit project. Prior to joining the firm in 2008, she worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation. The award recognizes younger members of ASCE who have advanced the profession; exhibited technical competence, high character and integrity; developed improved member attitudes toward the profession; and contributed to public service outside their professional careers.
