Brookville Equipment Corp. has delivered the first of three new Liberty® NXT streetcars to the Portland Streetcar system in Oregon. The 66-foot-long vehicles are part of a $13.6 million contract for the design and build of the Oregon agency’s three streetcars as part of a joint procurement with Sound Transit in Seattle. Brookville officials anticipate delivering the remaining two vehicles in the coming months, company officials said in a press release.

Giuseppe Marino has begun his role as group CEO of Hitachi Rail, based in London. Marino will lead an expansion of Hitachi Rail and accelerate the company’s growth in digital and green solutions. He rejoins the company after four years. Previously, he served as Hitachi Rail’s chief operating officer of rolling stock.

The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) has opened registration for its Annual Equipment Auction, which will be held April 27 in-person and online. All equipment information must be submitted by April 3. A 10% buyer's premium is charged on all items. A percentage of the equipment consigned to sell helps fund the NRC's safety, training and education programs, and the seller keeps the rest. For donated equipment, 100% of the proceeds go to the educational program.
