CAD Railway Industries Ltd. has reached a 23-year rail fleet maintenance, repair and overhaul agreement with ONxpress Operations Inc., the operations and maintenance service provider for Metrolinx's GO Expansion OnCorr project. CadRI's Ontario subsidiary, CAD Rail Fleet Services (Ontario) Ltd., will continue to move forward with the mobilization and transition planning period for the Metrolinx rail fleet, used for GO Transit commuter-rail service and UP Express airport service. CAD Rail Fleet Services' contract scope of work starts Jan. 1, 2025.

Siemens Mobility has been chosen by Metrolinx to handle track, signal and right-of-way maintenance for passenger-rail infrastructure. The partnership builds on Siemens Mobility's existing maintenance services in the region and signal and communications services at the Metrolinx Network Operations Center. The partnership will involve collaboration with Metrolinx to mobilize resources, including vehicles and large equipment, in preparation for the start of services in summer, Siemens Mobility officials said in a press release. Additionally, Siemens will provide Metrolinx with rail infrastructure performance data, ensuring superior service availability around the clock, they said.
