Coast Autonomous Inc., which develops autonomous systems for industrial applications, and Nexxiot, which develops asset intelligence solutions, have entered into a strategic partnership to improve efficiency, security and safety in logistics operations, according to a news release. The partnership combines Coast's autonomous technology with Nexxiot's expertise in digitalizing shipping containers and rail cars to optimize port and rail yard operations. Coast developed the Harvester to deliver real-time, location-accurate inventories of shipping containers, trailers and automobiles. The companies' efforts to Integrate data from Nexxiot’s intermodal and rail assets with Coast vehicles is designed to improve visibility in ports and rail yards.

Alstom, Ile-de-France Mobilites and SNCF Voyageurs yesterday inaugurated the RER NG, the "New Generation RER" at Haussmann Saint-Lazare station in Paris. The RER NG offers first-rate acceleration and braking performance to optimize station stopping times and train frequency. It will also incorporate the new NExTEO train automation, control and supervision system, which will further increase train frequency. The arrival of the RER NG commuter train is an important milestone in the Ile-de-France Mobilites policy to upgrade all rolling stock on its railway network, according to an Alstom press release.

WSP hired David Cochrane as senior vice president and transportation program director. Based in the Pacific Northwest, he will be responsible for delivering emerging, complex mega projects, in response to congestion and growing mobility needs in the region, according to a news release. Cochrane's previous roles includes numerous senior leadership positions delivering civil engineering transport infrastructure in the United Kingdom, including high-speed rail. His most recent work was on High Speed 2, Britain's new zero-carbon, high-speed railway.
