Dayton T. Brown Inc. last week marked the one-year anniversary of its 2,000-square-foot positive train-control (PTC) and radio communications testing lab in Bohemia, New York. The lab serves railroads and suppliers with qualification testing, diagnosis and trouble-shooting of their PTC and PTC II communication systems. The lab resulted from a contract awarded by MTA Metro-North Railroad in September 2019 to support PTC systems that use communications-based train-control technology to more reliably and functionally improve safe operation.

WSP USA has added Terry Tiller and Andy Keefe to the firm's national transit and rail team. Tiller will serve as senior director of rail engineering and work out of the Philadelphia office. Most recently, he was director of engineering production for Amtrak. Keefe will serve as senior managing director for rail construction and work out of the Albany, New York, office. Keefe has extensive railroad experience, including as Amtrak's assistant vice president of production and maintenance.

MERMEC Inc. has appointed Soheil Saadat vice president of business development sales, and Fred Ange, VP, chief financial officer and chief compliance officer. Saadat has more than 15 years of experience in the rail and diagnostic industry. In his new role, he will develop and execute business opportunities and create custom solutions for existing and future customer needs. Ange has more than 20 years of experience and brings to the company "a strong track record of driving results and accelerating growth," Alan Calegari, MERMEC president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.
