Delta Railroad Services CEO Linda Laurello is inviting high school and college students and early stage career professionals to apply for the company's new "CEO For A Day" program, which is designed to expose young people to rail-industry executive leadership. Individuals who apply or who are nominated by their peers will be considered to participate in the June 20 event, which includes a full day onsite hosted by Laurello; a tour of Delta's Ashtabula, Ohio, headquarters; briefings with department heads; and a lunch-and-learn session. Individuals can apply or nominate their peers via this form. Applications and nominations are due June 1.

Stadler has been awarded the contract for the delivery of signaling technology as part of the expansion of the Bybanen light-rail system in Bergen, Norway. The client is the state-owned project organization Bybanen Utbygging, a subsidiary of the Vestland fylkeskommune. The project includes the planning, delivery and implementation of signaling technology for several planned extension phases of the Bergen tram network, heading toward the northern suburbs of Asane and westward toward Loddefjord. The value of the contract amounts to about $57 million, according to a Stadler press release.

Rail Vision Ltd. CEO Shahar Hania announced he will step down today to pursue new opportunities but will remain on the company's board. David BenDavid will succeed Hania as CEO. BenDavid, who previously served as Rail Vision’s chief technology officer from 2018 to 2019, brings extensive executive and technological expertise to the role and is well-positioned to guide the company through its next phase of strategic growth and innovation, company officials said in a press release.

Hitachi Rail Consortium this week commissioned the first ARGOS digital interlocking system on the SNCF Reseau rail network. The commissioning, on the pilot site in southeast France, represents the culmination of work that began in September 2020 when the consortium was awarded first place in the ARGOS program. Digital interlocking controls the movements of trains ensuring they enter only free track sections. The system has advantages over traditional interlocking technologies, reducing the need for physical connections, enabling remote control and improving safety and efficiency, Hitachi Rail officials said in a press release.
