The gasket is designed to seal under various loading conditions and can be used in a variety of acids and caustics, as well as most hydrocarbons and refrigerants.

Vacations By Rail (VBR), a provider of escorted and independent rail holidays, has been acquired by Great Rail Journeys (GRJ). The acquisition will enhance GRJ’s position as a leading escorted rail company and is a key part of its plans to expand in the United Kingdom and into new product areas,  such as small group tours and connections between rail and river cruises, VBR officials said in a press release.

Argus Consulting Inc. has hired 38-year rail industry veteran Harry Syers to expand its fuels infrastructure services. As the rail market segment leader, Syers will establish a global strategy for the rail industry, strengthen relationships in the sector and supervise rail project managers, Argus officials said in a press release. Syers retired from Union Pacific Railroad after managing the company’s fuel and lubricants acquisition, transportation, storage and dispensing operations. Prior to that, he managed UP’s safety, health and environmental programs, as well as locomotive, freight car and track structure maintenance.

Alliance Shippers Inc. has received an award from Logistics Management magazine for quality service and customer satisfaction. For the 19th time, Alliance Shippers won the gold medal in the intermodal marketing category. The winners are determined by the magazine’s readers, who are buyers of logistics and transportation services, Alliance Shippers officials said in a press release.
