ENSCO Rail has reached an agreement with Stadler US Inc. to conduct operational testing at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo, Colorado. Testing will be performed on Stadler diesel-multiple unit (DMU) trainsets in support of its delivery to Dallas Area Rapid Transit. ENSCO on Oct. 1 assumed management of the Federal Railroad Administration’s TTC research and test facility.

Skanska and its joint venture partner, Railroad Construction Co., signed a contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to make improvements on New York City Transit subway stations. Skanska's share of the contract is worth $150 million. Skanska will make improvements on the Flushing Line. Work began in September and completion is slated for May 2025.

Railroad Development Corp. has joined the RailPulse coalition to further efforts to develop, broaden and accelerate the use of GPS and other telematics technologies that increase safety, efficiency and visibility across North America’s freight-rail industry. The coalition’s goal is to provide real-time information on rail cars’ status, location and condition to shippers, rail-car owners and railroads. The other coalition members include GATX Corp., Genesee & Wyoming Inc., Norfolk Southern Railway, TrinityRail, Watco, The Greenbrier Cos. and Union Pacific Railroad. 

Transdev has hired Ben Frimpong to serve as deputy general counsel of labor and employment. Frimpong has extensive experience in employment law, labor relations, compliance and litigation. His specialties include employment law defense and litigation management around issues relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, DOL audits, workers’ compensation, OSHA and compliance, Transdev officials said in a press release.

Cervello announced a partnership with ST Engineering to provide rail organizations with state-of-the-art cybersecurity services for rail operational networks and infrastructure. ST Engineering’s cybersecurity services will be incorporated as part of Cervello's patented rail security solution for rail operators and infrastructure managers. 

CHEMET, a European manufacturer of stationary and transportable pressure tanks and vessels for liquefied gasses, has selected Nexxiot to digitalize its product line of railway tank cars. CHEMET will integrate Nexxiot’s asset intelligence technology into newly manufactured railway tank cars. CHEMET’s clients will be able to access the real-time location of equipped cars, monitor total mileage and shocks and receive notifications if the tank experiences significant temperature changes.
