FreightCar America Inc. has reported that first-quarter revenue totaled $161.1 million on 1,223 rail-car deliveries, an increase of 99% compared to revenue of $81 million on 738 car deliveries in first-quarter 2023. The company also reported a net loss of $11.6 million and adjusted net income of $4.9 million. "We were pleased by our ability to deliver another quarterly record number of rail cars out of our Mexico facility, marking our second consecutive quarter of 1,000-plus units of production," said FreightCar America President and CEO Nick Randall in a press release. "The health of the rail industry continued to improve during the first quarter, and as a result, we continue to maintain our view on industry demand for 35,000 to 40,000 new rail cars for the year."

STV Group Inc. has acquired MEHTA and Associates Inc., an engineering and construction engineering inspection firm in Florida. MEHTA employs more than 75 professionals and has completed nearly 1,000 infrastructure projects over the past 50 years, STV officials said in a press release. MEHTA will now operate as MEHTA Engineering, an STV Company.

Beam Global, which provides infrastructure solutions for the electrification of transportation and energy security, announced that the Federal Railroad Administration has ordered its ARC solar-powered EV charging systems to charge federal fleet vehicles at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado. The solar-powered EV charging infrastructure products are off-grid, generate and store their own clean electricity, and are deployed with no electrical work, construction or utility bill, Beam Global officials said in a press release.
