FreightCar America Inc. has received total orders valued at $141 million, representing 1,250 rail cars, during the quarter ending March 31. These orders reflect ongoing demand for FreightCar America's rai-car offerings and reflect continued market share gains, according to a company press release. The orders represent approximately 25% of all new rail cars ordered in the quarter, and 36% in the company's addressable market, marking the largest new rail-car market share quarterly intake in 15 years, FreightCar officials said in a press release.

Benesch has hired Paul Rathgeber as the director of public projects to focus on expanding the company's rail services and elevating the public projects program across North America. Previously, Rathgeber spent 28 years with Union Pacific Railroad, most recently as director of industry and public projects, where he led a team of over 130 employees and consultants. In that role, he created, implemented and sustained an organizational model for the department, according to a Benesch press release.

Alstom leads the BULEMU consortium that has signed a contract with the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria, for the delivery of 35 electric Coradia Stream interregional trains including 15 years of maintenance. The total value of the contract amounts to 720 million euros, of which Alstom’s share is 600 million euros. The BULEMU consortium is formed by Alstom and the local company RVP Invest, which will provide the maintenance facility.
