GATX Corp. this week announced three leadership promotions. Effective immediately: Kevin Hillesland has been appointed senior vice president of structured finance; Geoffrey Phillips has been appointed SVP of operations; and John Sbragia has been appointed SVP of engineering and quality. "These promotions reflect GATX’s significant investment in our global growth strategy and ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, integrity and service," said GATX President and CEO Robert Lyons in a press release.

Duos Technologies Inc. announced it now has 13 rail-car inspection portals (rip® or RIP) in operation with four major railroads. The company also reported that its RIP technology across those same 13 portals has performed more than 3.8 million comprehensive rail-car scans through 2023’s first half. This metric encompasses all rail cars scanned at locations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The League of Railway Women is soliciting nominations for its Member of the Year award, which is designed to recognize the "dedication and outstanding contributions" of an LRW member. The association is seeking nominations of members who’ve "gone above and beyond, tirelessly working to improve the league and the rail industry, driving progress and building strong connections," LRW officials said in a press release. The nomination period ends Aug. 31. Nomination forms can be found here.
