Rail supplier news from GE, Aspen Technology, Brookville, HNTB, TranSystems and Bombardier (Jan. 25)

GE Transportation has delivered its first seven GE Evolution Series™ locomotives to Pakistan Railways. The Pakistani state-owned rail company has ordered 55 total units from GE. Pakistan has become the first country in South Asia to import and use GE Evolution Series locomotives, according to a GE press release. Designed for harsh environmental conditions, the units have a horsepower exceeding 4,500 and feature an 8,000-liter fuel tank.

Aspen Technology Inc.'s Mtell has received the 2016 CSX Supplier Innovation Award. Mtell's prescriptive maintenance software helps the Class I identify potential locomotive issues by analyzing large volumes of real-time and historical operational and maintenance data, Aspen Technology officials said in a press release. The Class I recognized Mtell as a "select supplier delivering extraordinary value and productivity," company officials added.

Brookville Equipment Corp. has promoted Rick Graham to president. He previously served as the company's chief financial officer for 14 months, Brookville officials said in a press release. Graham joined Brookville in October 2015 after holding CFO positions with two other organizations and working as an independent consultant. Brookville's product line includes freight and passenger locomotives, streetcars, and underground mining and tunneling equipment.

Robert Slimp has been named chairman, president and chief executive officer of HNTB Holdings Ltd. He's held leadership roles at the firm since joining in 2005. Slimp was named CEO of HNTB Corp. in 2013. He has more than two decades of leadership and client service experience on large-scale infrastructure and transportation programs throughout the United States, company officials said in a press release.

TranSystems Corp. named Tim Rock market sector leader of its freight rail and intermodal sector. A principal and senior vice president, Rock also currently serves as regional vice president for the Southeast region. His previous roles at TranSystems have included rail team leader, director of operations and regional vice president of the Midwest region. The company's freight rail and intermodal sector encompasses planning, design, construction and operations support for track, bridge and facilities for railroads, intermodal and port entities, energy companies, and manufacturers and distributors.

Bombardier appointed Nico Buchholz senior vice president of strategic initiatives. He joined the company in September 2015 and served as chief procurement officer. Buchholz has been "instrumental in establishing a more centralized, focused and efficient procurement organization," said Bombardier President and Chief Executive Officer Alain Bellemare in a press release. Meanwhile, the company appointed Jim Vounassis chief transformation and procurement officer. Vounassis joined the company in June 2015 as the company's chief transformation officer. In that role, he was responsible for transforming the company's operations to reduce costs, improve efficiency and support Bombardier's growth objectives, company officials said.
