The Greenbrier Cos.' board elected Thomas Fargo as independent chair. A board member since 2015, Fargo chairs Greenbrier's compensation committee and is a member of the nominating and corporate governance committee. He has served as lead director since January 2021, a position Greenbrier's board will eliminate with the election of an independent board chair. Fargo succeeds William Furman, Greenbrier's executive chair since March 2022. Previously, Furman was chairman and CEO since 2014. Furman will continue to serve as a board member until January 2024.
Caterpillar Inc. today marks the 100th anniversary of the EMD® locomotive brand. Originally founded as the Electro-Motive Engineering Corp., EMD is now a product brand of Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company. "EMD has a proud 100-year legacy of providing rail customers with proven technology and innovation,” said Marty Haycraft, senior vice president of Caterpillar and president and CEO of Progress Rail, in a press release. The first EMD locomotive was manufactured as a gas-electric locomotive rail car with 150 horsepower.
Thales has obtained a new contract to implement certificate authority/public key infrastructure across Network Rail in the United Kingdom. The contract includes a three-year support period with the option of two 12-month extensions, giving the potential to develop the service further.
Kory Hamill has joined Abloy Critical Infrastructure Global Solutions as the vertical market manager for transportation. He is based in St. Louis and responsible for a nationwide territory. Hamill has spent the past nine years in the transportation industry, most recently as regional sales manager for Modern Tech Equipment LLC.
