The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. reported fourth-quarter 2023 (ending Aug. 31) net earnings of $25 million, or 77 cents per diluted share, on revenue of $1 billion. The company reported it received new rail-car orders for 15,300 units valued at $1.9 billion in the quarter; posted a new rail-car backlog of 30,900 units valued at $3.8 billion as of Aug. 31; and reported Q4 deliveries of 7,000 units.

RailPros has promoted Erika Bruhnke to the newly created position of chief sales and growth officer. In this role, Bruhnke will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive revenue growth and expand RailPros’ market presence. She will oversee sales teams, business development efforts and customer acquisition. Bruhnke joined RailPros in 2018 as the vice president of training services, after working for BNSF Railway Co. for a decade. In 2021, Progressive Railroading named Bruhnke a Rising Star in the railroad industry.

Miner Enterprises Inc. has hired Ross Hartley to serve as international sales manager. Hartley is taking over duties held by Peter van der Haas, who is retiring after serving in the same position since 2010. Hartley has served for 18 years with multinational South African firm Transnet SOC Ltd., most recently as principal engineer. He has been involved in the design, testing and commissioning of heavy-haul freight trains, and all manner of railway technology research and development, product design and quality assessment.

Savage Cos. has named Jeff Olsen to its board. Olsen has been president and CEO of Boart Longyear since March 2016 after serving as chief financial officer since 2014. Olsen also served in executive-level financial roles at Rio Tinto and held financial roles at General Chemical Corp. and Xerox Corp. "Jeff’s expertise and relationships across multiple industries will be advantageous as we continue to grow our business in a strategic and sustainable way," said Savage President and Chief Executive Officer Kirk Aubry in a press release.
