The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. released its 2023 environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, On Track Together. Greenbrier’s alignment with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures framework continues with the company’s internal analysis to identify gaps in its approach. On Track Together also describes the state of the company’s assessment of climate-related physical and transition risks. The report highlights new targets and key achievements from fiscal 2023 in accordance with its five core ESG pillars: safety and quality; people; environment sustainability; governance and ethics; and communities.

Pandrol has launched a new product that enables non-ballasted track to be adapted to meet changing performance requirements. The Common Interface System provides a common connection point for a range of different screwed and nonscrewed fastening assemblies. When fitted to the concrete of non-ballasted track, the track can be modified to meet changing noise and vibration mitigation demands by simply swapping the fastening assembly, rather than having to modify or lift and rebuild the whole track. "Now, for the first time, [rail infrastructure owners] will be able to simply replace the fastening system, resulting in huge financial savings and minimizing disruption to our rail network," said John Porrill, Pandrol’s fastening systems technical director, in a press release.
