Hitachi Rail has obtained a contract from FS Italiane Groups' Trenitalia to manufacture and deliver nine Frecciarossa passenger-rail trainsets. Valued at 260 billion euros, the contract adds to Tranitalia's past orders from Hitachi Rail. The investment is part of Tranitalia's fleet renewal program and is designed to offer modern passenger-rail service in Italy, said officials from Hitachi Rail in a press release. By 2029, 57 new trains will be in service, they added. Hitachi Rail will manufacture the Frecciarossa trainsets at the company's plants in Naples and Pistoia, Italy.

Alstom has obtained a C$1.3 billion contract from Metrolinx to continue providing operations and maintenance services for the Ontario public transit agency's GO Transit and Union Pearson Express passenger-rail services. The contract runs through 2031, Alstom officials said in a press release. GO Transit provides regional transit services in around Toronto, while Union Pearson Express connects the Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto. In 2024-2025, Alstom managed 117,020 GO rail trips and 56,494 Union Pearson Express trips, with on-time performance of over 97% on a mixed-use rail network, said Alstom officials.

Precision Terminals Logistics (PTL) is the new operator of a CSX-owned Transflo transloading terminal in Portland, Maine. The site serves multiple commodities, features 110-car capacity and offers containerized waste lift capacity, said PTL officials in a press release. The terminal offers shippers access to the national rail network via CSX.

Trafag, a Swiss-based manufacturer of high-accuracy measurement devices, has added three new models to its Picostat family of mechanical pressure switches. The PST4B 9B4, PST4M 9M4, and PST4K 9K4 were engineered to delivery reliable switching performance in rail operations, said Trafag officials in a press release. The models share key installation and connectivity features that simplify integration, they added.
