Hitachi Rail announced it has agreed to acquire Thales' Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business for an enterprise value of about $1.97 billion. The final purchase price will be determined after customary adjustments. The acquisition is expected to close in late fiscal-year 2022 subject to the usual conditions, including regulatory and antitrust clearances. A division of Thales, GTS a global leader in rail signaling and train-control systems, telecommunications and supervision systems and fare-collection solutions, according to a company press release.

TekTracking LLC, a railroad asset-management technology development company,  announced that TNW Corp., a privately held organization that owns three short line railroads and transportation logistics companies in Texas, has selected Track Inspection, Maintenance, Planning and Scheduling software (TIMPS) to manage TNW track inspection, maintenance and scheduling activities across all its railroads.
