Intramotev, a technology company building autonomous rail cars, has added former Wabtec Corp. CEO Ray Betler to its board. Betler began his career as a propulsion systems design engineer at Westinghouse, where he rose to become the youngest head of engineering and later president and CEO. He joined Wabtec in 2008, became chief operating officer and then president and CEO. During his tenure, he led Wabtec’s global operations, directed the strategic acquisition of Faiveley Transport, and led the company through its merger with GE Transportation. “Ray has spent his career at the forefront of rail innovation,” said Intramotev CEO Tim Luchini in a press release. “He’s led global organizations through times of transformation, and having his experience at Intramotev will be invaluable as we continue to grow.”
Hitachi Rail has launched the BV700 validator, the company's latest addition to its passenger-rail ticketing solutions portfolio. The BV700 introduces interactions capabilities for users, improved maintainability and reduced ecological footprint, Hitachi Rail officials said in a press release. The new validator integrates within Hitachi Rail’s TRANSCITYTM ticketing platform, a comprehensive, interoperable solution supporting multimodal and multi-operator networks at city, regional and national scale. The BV700 offers two screen formats, support for multiple fare mediums and a design focused on operational efficiency and maintainability. It was designed, engineered and manufactured in France.
