Keolis Commuter Services, the operating partner for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter-rail system, is testing NaviLens at North Station and Salem Station. The technology helps passengers who have poor vision to navigate the stations with a smartphone app. When riders scan brightly colored QR-style codes posted in the stations the NaviLens app will then help them find the correct platform, provide real-time train information, and guide them to exits or other landmarks with audio navigation and haptic feedback, according to a Keolis news release.

HNTB Corp. has completed its work on the Sound Transit Lynnwood Link Extension, according to a HNTB news release. The line connects Northgate Station to Lynnwood Transit Center and marks the first light-rail extension to Snohomish County, Washington. The multiyear project incorporated four new light-rail stations, three parking garages and 8.5 miles of track.

Rail Vision Ltd. yesterday reported financial results for the first half of the year ended June 30. Highlights included the securing of more than $12 million in proceeds through a pair of financing transactions. The company also received a $1 million order out of a contract valued at up to $5 million in potential follow-on orders with leading a U.S.-based rail and leasing services company. Rail Vision also installed its AI-driven system for a U.S.-based Class I, according to a news release.
