Lilee Systems announced the availability of its key management system, a positive train control (PTC) solution created and implemented by a Class I railroad. The system enables rail operators to fully comply with PTC key management and security requirements. In addition, the system provides secure storage for cryptographic material used in PTC. The software includes a key server or key store and an interoperable key exchange service, as well as the required interoperable train control systems management asset registry, Lilee officials said in a press release. The system facilitates secure distribution of keys and certificates to the field where they are used by telecom, signal and mechanical technicians who install and maintain equipment.

VHB has been named the local lead signal design consultant on the Ansaldo STS team tasked with delivering positive train control (PTC) for Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's (MBTA) commuter-rail network. In December 2015, MBTA awarded the $338 million contract to Ansaldo to equip the commuter-rail system with PTC. VHB's work will encompass all 14 commuter-rail lines and more than 400 route miles that operate along the Northeast Corridor in Massachusetts.

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) has selected Ultimate Software's UltiPro program for human resources needs. The program is designed to give managers a "new level of business intelligence," and provide an easy and accessible user experience for employees, according to a Ultimate Software press release. G&W officials also can use the software to "elevate the level of strategic planning in HR with enterprise-wide workforce analytics," which help project future hiring needs, said Mary Ellen Russell, G&W's chief human resources officer.

Contech Engineered Solutions and GEOfabrics Ltd. announced a strategic partnership that allows Contech to sell GEOfabrics' Tracktex microporous filter in the United States. Sandwiched between two geotextile protectors and deployed at the base of ballast, the filter is designed to prevent rainwater from penetrating the underlying formation. It also allows upward movement of water when filtering fine soil particles.

Gannett Fleming has relocated and expanded its Los Angeles office to accommodate the firm's growing workforce. The company plans to hire more designers for transit stations and maintenance facilities, as well as industrial, structural, bridge, civil and project management engineers. Currently, the firm is providing design and construction administration for two design-build maintenance facility projects with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Direct ChassisLink Inc. (DCLI) has hired Ryan Houfek as senior vice president of business development. For the past nine years, he worked at CSX, most recently as assistant vice president of marketing. Prior to working for CSX, Houfek was purchasing director for CMA CGM. He also served a stint as group manager of sales and marketing at Norfolk Southern Corp.
