McMillen Jacobs Associates appointed Victor Romero as executive vice president of its underground division. Romero has been with McMillen Jacobs for 28 years, providing underground engineering in the rail-transit, highway, water and wastewater sectors, company officials said in a press release. Isabelle Lamb will succeed Romero as managing director of the Australia and New Zealand region. Lamb has over 25 years of experience in the design and management of teams for the construction of tunnels, underground structures and associated surface facilities for transit, water and roadway projects.
ABB signed a five-year contract to provide the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) with its RER670 intelligent electronic device for transformer and line distance protection, ABB officials said in a press release. ABB has also supplied SBB with its REB500 busbar protection.
HDR has named Doug Morrison freight technology leader to identify and implement the latest technology services for freight-rail clients. Morrison has more than 25 years of experience in the transportation technology and is current president of the American Railway Development Association. Most recently, he managed the profit and loss center for a rail company. Prior to that, he was a national geographic information system manager for an engineering company, HDR officials said in a press release.
WSP USA has hired Linea Laird as a strategic adviser. Laird will work on projects with WSP’s Northwest district team and collaborate with transportation market managers in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle to implement business development strategies and serve as a complex project delivery expert. For over 30 years, Laird has held engineering positions at the Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) and was interim director of transportation for the Seattle DOT.
Alliance Shippers Inc. has been selected as Inbound Logistics’ 2019 Green Supply Chain Partner for its sustainability initiatives, including equipping its 2,100 refrigerated trailers with two-way cellular tracking devices that draw power from a battery source which is charged by a solar panel on the trailer rooftop. The company has received the award yearly since 2013, Alliance Shippers officials said in a press release.
