North American Rail Solutions, through its subsidiary American Track, has acquired West Rail Construction LLC in Vancouver, Washington. North American Rail provides industrial rail inspection, construction, maintenance and terminal services. West Rail Construction has provided rail maintenance and construction services in the U.S. Northwest for more than 25 years. The company serves customers in a range of industries including ports, forestry, chemicals, energy and waste. The acquisition enables North American Rail and American Track to expand in the U.S. Northwest and along the West Coast, according to a North American Rail press release.

Railinc’s TransmetriQ business unit has launched a demurrage management solution designed to provide rail shippers greater control of transportation costs. The new module enhances the TransmetriQ platform and provides “complete North American rail-car management,” said Danny Dever, TransmetriQ's senior product manager, in a press release. "Our solution tracks terminal capacity and estimates demurrage automatically, giving shippers the visibility to take action on cars incurring fees — ultimately leading to a reduction in demurrage costs," he said.

STG Logistics Inc. has named Farrukh Bezar chairman. The chief strategy officer for CSX, Bezar has served on STG's board since 2020.
