voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak has acquired the concrete-tie assets of CXT Inc., an L.B. Foster Co. subsidiary, including CXT's facility in Spokane, Washington. With the acquisition, Voestalpine now can offer customers in the western United States and Canada more fully integrated onshore system solutions, including special trackwork, concrete turnout ties, concrete ties, and fastening and signaling systems, Nortrak officials said in a press release. The company also gained the manufacturing capacity to produce mainline concrete ties to provide a broad range of rail fastening products, they added. CXT has supplied concrete ties to freight- and transit-rail clients for more than 35 years.

Wabtec Corp. won a contract to supply passenger information systems (PIS) and pantographs for up to 504 Stadler rail cars as part of the VDV Tram-Train project. The order will improve the rider experience and power new cars for the transit consortium led by six transportation companies based in Germany and Austria. Wabtec is responsible for the design, manufacturing and delivery of the advanced PIS and pantograph systems. Over the next decade, the company will supply Stadler with systems for 246 CITYLINK vehicles; the contract includes an option to order systems for up to 258 more vehicles. The new pantographs will be compatible with both light-rail and mainline operations.

Alstom obtained a $17.3 million contract from Koleje Mazowieckie — a Polish regional rail operator — to maintain 37 Twindexx double-deck coaches. To take place from 2023 to 2025, the work calls for overhauling 26 trailing coaches and 11 control coaches. The scope of work involves detailed inspection of the condition of components and assemblies, along with their partial disassembly for replacement or repair, and the supply of mono-block wheels.

Matern Professional Engineering marked the completion of Brightline's Orlando International Airport Station, where the firm helped complete installation of new electrical systems. Beginning in 2018, Matern produced specific elements for the design and engineering components to properly augment the airport's existing electrical, HVAC and sanitation systems. Matern partnered with Bigtime Design Studios, Borelli + Partners and Gomez Construction Co. to complete the project.
