Omaha Track recently hosted U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) for a tour of the company’s headquarters and facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The company provides products and services to Class Is, short lines and rail contractors. "Highlighting our economic footprint in Nebraska and the jobs we create in the state and beyond is something we're very proud of, so being able to discuss that with the senator was a great opportunity and experience," said Omaha Track President Jeff Peterson in a press release. Other attendees participating in the tour included Omaha Track CEO and owner Terry Peterson; Kevin Hicks, TranSystems; Scott Traylor, Rio Grande Pacific Corp; Wendy Whalen, Union Pacific Railroad; and Mike McGonagle, National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association and Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association.

STV Inc. has promoted Carol Rose to vice president. In her new role, she leads the vehicle team’s projects and pursuits with some of its largest clients. Rose joined STV in 1996 and has served in various capacities for rail-vehicle procurement and engineering programs.

Thales Group has obtained a contract with the Colas Rail/Orascom joint venture to supply the Egypt’s National Authority for Tunnels with a modern public transportation system for the city of Alexandria. The total contract value of the overall project amounts to 1.3 billion euros. When completed, the project — which will span 13.5 miles and encompass 20 stations and two depots — will connect downtown Alexandria with the northeastern town of Aboukir,
